It was both good and bad that I was not called in to help the 3D Animation Students rig their characters in that it was a lost opportunity to apply new knowledge, I was already busy and may have been driven batty otherwise. Overall this study will be worthwhile in the long run, to have brushed up on rigging techniques, to have learned some basics in MEL, and to learn all sorts of neat tricks among other things. All of this new knowledge will be very handy in about 2 weeks' time as I will need to skin my own character in Maya as part of my final project. The majority of this week's studies in speed skinning techniques was more about watching the footage to see how one can approach certain body parts when attempting to paint skin weights and whatnot one set of notes can be carried between most if not all other areas of the body, and I mostly just added to these as certain suggestions were given throughout the video series. After a very quick, with the passing of the Remembrance Day long weekend, and very informative week I have filled out my final quota for the Self-Directed project this term.
